....Requests

Requests, broken links, re-ups and related topics go here. It may be easier for admins to be attentive to these topics if they are put here and not under the individual posts. There's no guarantee that we may be able to respond to everything, but we'll give it a try.

I've deleted the previous 'Requests' post as it was becoming a bit unwieldy.
I shall start the requests with the last one from the previous thread.

Many many thanks Mew23 once again you have rescued an important recording.
@Ernst There is a problem on the link of this post:
http://inconstantsol.blogspot.fr/2014/02/floros-floridis-krok-trio-jnd-1986.html
when you arrive on the download page you can read a message saying that the link is old and that we have to use a new link, it happens sometimes with 1f and each time the new download link is provided but not in this case. Can you check?

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

Yes correct silence - I know this "problem" with 1fichier. But it is very easy to resurrect it.
Added the correct link a minute ago.

@ tentaclesoferpmind

I'm not a musician, rather an audio service technician specializing in turntables. That said, the place in Seattle to meet other local performers of creative music is at the long running 'Racer Sessions' at Cafe Racer in the Roosevelt District. Every Sunday evening from 8-10pm they feature one set of new music by a local musician, followed by another set of improvised music... it's an open stage for the second set, broken into 10-minute segments... just show up with your instrument (or borrow the shared drum kit) and join whichever improvised ensemble (duo to sextet) suits your mood. It's an excellent format for local musicians to meet & share ideas. Link below:

http://www.racersessions.com/about/

Many but not all of the regular Racer Sessions musicians are UW & Cornish grads, and most also perform at events at Cornish's Poncho Hall, the Wayward Music Series at The Chapel in Wallingford (a gorgeous space with splendid acoustics), and at the Royal Room in Columbia City (a bar/club operated by composer/pianist Wayne Horvitz).

The Royal Room just hosted it's second annual AACM-inspired 3-day festival ('Ancient to the Future') featuring the music of the AEoC, Sonny Sharrock, Muhal Richard Abrams, Julian Priester, John Carter & Bobby Bradford, Henry Threadgill, & Steve Lacy. I highly recommend you check out their calendar. Their Monday night Salute Sessions and Collective Music Ensemble performances are also great events to mingle with local players. Links below.

See you around.

So if someone have some live recordings of his performances since 1985 it would be great to share here? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the share and the information. If some people are focusing on the source instead of the music it is not my case so from an lp or a cd, the most important is the music. In relation with this have you received my mail about "Underground In Africa", do you need a rip?

correct silence said...

@mew23
thank again for providing another lost file.
@Mike
I also have some problems with 1fichier since few weeks because they refuse the access when you have a program like ad-block +. I wrote them to tell us that they don't have to tell us what we have to do or no. Basically 1fichier's commercial politic is a big shit, regularly they try to limit the access for free users but they keep a free service accessible. In the past I argued with the boss explaining him that if he want to stop the free service he have to assume it clearly, not doing some stupide limitations like he does regularly.
To change of topic if you are interested by Leszek Zadlo and if you don't already have it, you can download "St Louis Blues by Michael Naura where Zadlo is shinning.

This have been provided by Mew23 in the contribution section some years ago.

@Mike
I can suggest you to buy the box set of Hans Dulfer "the formative years". 4 of the seven cd included are great, there is "Heavy Soul" that you search but there are also the two albums by hans Dulfer And Ritmo Natural (The Morning After The Third and Candy Cloud). Both are crazy free/Latin/psyche... the fourth one is "El Saxofon "with Bobby Few and it is also a great one. The rest is the other side of Hans Dulfer that I personally don't like, very commercial music. I bought this box set long time ago and I don't regret it.
https://www.discogs.com/fr/Hans-Dulfer-The-Formative-Years-68-98/release/6557889
Obviously this box set is now out of print so the only copy at a acceptable price is on Discogs, it is also available at mp3 for download.

There is only one missing title on the cd version "Wherever Junebugs Go" a small title that is on the lp but not on the cd. I have never heard that more material was published but if more material exist it could be interesting to have it.

Few days ago I wanted to post the lp by Baikida EJ Carroll "orange fish tears" on Palm but listening to my old rip, I heard some surface noises mostly on the first side. I discovered that it have been m-posted in flac on an old blog called "free the music" but the links are dead.
So if someone still have the rip of this lp it would be much appreciated. Even Manuel Villarroel who plays on the lp asked me if I can provide him a cdr copy because he doesn't have no more copies of this lp.
so tank in advance for the generous contributor who can post this file in lossless.

I have Orange Fish Tears

correct silence said...

Thank you Costanzo for the file but unfortunately the person who did the transfer have used a noise reducer filter and the result is absolutely horrible. The sound is totally compressed, the low frequencies have almost disappeared and the higher ones are very up. In the beginning I thought that I could do a mix with my version and substitute the parts that have some surface noise of my version with this one but the my version have no noise reducer so the difference is heard and any mix between the two is possible. So Nick if you have the lp and can post it it would be great, thanks.

Hi Do someone know something about the enigmatic session of this enigmatic musician:
https://www.discogs.com/fr/Norman-Howard-Signals/release/6644432
If someone have some informations or even much better the recording it would be great to bring it to the light of day isn't it?

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

Hi correct silence. "Signals" (Homeboy 1) was included in the cassette "Burn, Baby, Burn" (Homeboy 2, albeit with different titles.
Intended to be released as ESP 1073, originally recorded as 2 sessions in November 1968, 'Burn Baby Burn' and 'Signals'.
See also the article from Clifford Allen on Norman Howard.
http://www.paristransatlantic.com/magazine/monthly2005/12dec_text.html#2

correct silence said...

Thank you Ernst
I was confused by the fact that on Discogs, there are only two tracks simply titled Signals and there is no title Signals on Burn, baby, burn. I was expecting another undiscovered session with two very long tracks... I was already excited by this perspective. I will certainly talk to Bobby Few very soon for other reasons, He is also from Cleveland, I will ask him about Norman Howard. Bobby was also friend with Albert Ayler, so perhaps he have meet and played with Norman Howard.

jeff said...

@mew23
Do you think that Noah Howard(1972 roio)from carville is the same source recording as the one from ubu? Always interesting to compare different recordings of the same show. Might be older, cleaner generation, different tape hiss/quality, FM tuning noise, etc. Just wandering. I know from pretty extensive trading of cassettes about the degradation that occurs after the recording gets many (sometimes many, many, many) generations down the road from the master tape (In this case I'm guessing reel to reel).

thank in advance if some followers or contributors can provide.

mew23 said...

@ jeff,
the Noah Howard recording from NYC 1972 had been seeded on dime before ubu posted it. According to the info in ubu's file the lineage was: 'unknown source but maybe fm (wkcr-fm??)>?>analog cassette>cdr'. The wav files from both archives (ubu's version and the recent post on dime) differ only marginally in size and seem to sound identical. But if you want to compare yourself here's ubu's version: https://www26.zippyshare.com/v/cXKqlaK3/file.html

correct silence said...

Regarding this superbe performance of Noah Howard and the question of Jeff, I took track one from the dime version, cut it at one moment and sticked the missing part that I took from the Ubu version recently posted by Mew23 and I can say that it is exactly the same source. When you listen to the version made by the two parts coming from each source you hear no difference.

Would it be possible to have a new rip of this post?
http://inconstantsol.blogspot.com/2013/10/amman-boutz-fish-music-1989.html
In my memory the rip that was available was full of surface noises. I'm not sure that it was due to a bad condition of the lp but perhaps because of some cleaning problems. I used to have this experience when I cleaned an lp I had to play it once or twice before the noise disappears totally. If I remember well this post, the noises that we can hear behind the music seems like the ones I experienced, or if it if it is due to a lp that is not in good conditions... All in all if someone can do a new rip it would be great.

Ernst Grgo Nebhuth said...

Hi correct silence, I have the Amman Boutz LP. If I remember correctly I bought it in new condition from Ekkehard Jost.
As I got a rip very soon after purchasing the vinyl I listened only two or three times to the LP - so it should be in near mint condition.
I will do a new rip - after I do the rip of Bill Dixon's LP "Weight / Counterweight" which is on my to-do-list for some months....
